GOOD NEWS - June 23rd
Hello all, we hope you are well and enjoying the recent spell of good weather and the longer days. High temperatures aren't for everyone but there's no doubt that the sunshine lifts our spirits and energy levels to enjoy the opportunities available.
And we start this week's bulletin with 2 new groups helping to create a healthier and happier community ...
The Raving Red Hats is a new ladies-only group set up by local resident and personal trainer, Julie Brooks They will be meeting about once a month for chats or social events and you need to wear a hat when you attend, red if you are 50+ or a pink if you are under 50, as Julie's friend is kindly modeling in the cover photo! Their first event is taking part in the North Euston pub quiz, this Sunday evening. To find out more about how you can get involved see the Raving Red Hats page on Facebook or contact Julie on 07484 821156.
SENDsation is a non-profit organisation with a focus on special educational needs and disabilities.
Led by local residents the group has been active under another name for some time - they will now offer peer support and connections to professional services for parents and carers of children with disabilities and also for adults. SENDsation have a Facebook page or contact us and we can put you in touch.
Protecting our local environment and the planet as a whole is becoming increasingly relevant to the voluntary sector and communities.
Local groups are invited to attend an online event that will discuss this topic and suggest ways you can play your part. The 'Green Agenda' is on Monday 4th July, 10am to 12 noon - to register please email office@springnorth.org.uk

Our Wellbeing & Community Centre at Affinity Lancashire will be relocating from Friday 1st July.
We're not moving very far ... just one door along in fact, close to Moss Bros and opposite the Bonmarche store. The move does mean we will have to close on our usual days - Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 27th - 29th June, opening in the new unit on Friday 1st July, 11am to 3pm.
And we will be joined on Friday 1st July by Wyre Council volunteers & staff with the Just Reminiscing collection. From 11am - 1pm to browse the fascinating array of memorabilia and artifacts and decorate a cup and saucer plant pot holder or other items for your garden or kitchen window for yourself or as a lovely creative gift for a friend.
You can also meet Anne from the Peter Lyttle Foundation and find out more about the great work they are doing to support individuals with dementia and their families. The Foundation host a weekly drop-in event from their Fleetwood base on Preston Street.
One other event on the 1st July to mention is the monthly Bee Anytime business networking morning. Drop in to the Coffee Box at Affinity, just across from our unit, from 9.30am to 11am to meet other local businesses and find out how the Bee Anytime app can help you connect with clients and suppliers.
Our thanks to all the team at Affinity Lancashire for their continued support and for hosting a number of community events throughtout the year.
Applications for Wyre Council's annual Sports Awards are now open!
The awards acknowledge stand-out individuals, clubs, schools and volunteers who have made amazing achievements, contributed to their community or shown dedication to sport across 12 categories for all ages. Applications close on 31st August and the Wyre winners will go through to the Lancashire awards ceremony which will be held in November. > Nominations on the Wyre Council website here.
A reminder it's our FREE Chatter Cafe at YMCA Lofthouse Building, London Street, tomorrow (Friday 24th June). Drop in between 10am and 11.30am for a brew and conversation with other local residents and hear more about what's happening in Fleetwood.
We must mention the very encouraging news regarding a rail link to Fleetwood.
Following many years of campaigning by among others our MP Cat Smith, plans to reinstate the line from Poulton have been approved by the government and the Department of Transport will fund development. Reconnecting Fleetwood to the rail network will have a major impact on the community, improving economic prospects and the wellbeing of local residents. It coincides perfectly with the launch of theFuture Fleetwood partnership which you will see and hear a lot more about in the months and years ahead.
