GOOD NEWS - 3rd August
Despite the best (or worst efforts of the weather) it is August and there's a wide range of activities and events to enjoy, rain or shine!
This Saturday, 5th August, Fleetwood Rugby Club hosts a BIG family day out.There's live music; bouncy castles; welly throwing and 'soak the coach'; raffles and name the teddy; bike coding; displays of boxing, dancing and rugby, stalls and much more. Plenty to eat, the social club bar will be open and at 3pm a 'tug of war' competition. Fleetwood Fire Station Open Day is on Wednesday 9th August, 11am - 3pm.
As you go around the station you'll meet the crews and see them in action with demonstrations of rope rescue and a chip pan fire. Welephant the mascot will be there too - fun for all the family in support of the Firefighters Charity.
Fleetwood Youth Hub has a fun, fitness event coming up.
It's a glow-in-the-dark Zumba session on Thursday 10th August from 5.30pm - 6pm for ages 16 - 24. Places are limited and can be booked in advance by email to courtney@blackpoolvolunteer.org.uk or message the Youth Hub Facebook page.

Local residents are invited to enjoy FREE admission during August - take along proof of home address and present it to the reception desk on entry. Rick Clement is taking on a new challenge to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer. He's going to complete a 24-hour gym workout over Thursday 17th and Friday 18th August, the funds raised will cover the cost of a quick test for men attending a Town home game in September. Fleetwood Methodist Church is currently collecting items of school uniform that can be reused next term.
Donations can be made at the Church on Fleetwood Road, Wednesday evening 7pm to 9pm and Thursday morning 9:30am to 12:30pm. Items are available to collect at an event on Saturday 12th August from 11am to 2pm.
Also taking in unwanted school uniform is Westview Community Association on Eden Avenue, Fleetwood - one of the many ways they support local residents. Westview are recruiting for a rewarding full-time, paid role as their Partnership and Development Officer, initially on a 1-year contract which may be extended.

Lovely to see and hear Harmony & Health at Affinity Lancashire this week, not deterred by the weather! They will be back Tuesday 5th September and again on Friday 29th September for the Macmillan Coffee Morning we'll be hosting at our Information Centre, Affinity from 10.30am to 1pm. In a couple of weeks time we'll be sharing details of how you can get involved by volunteering, donating a raffle prize or baking cakes.
Highbury Morris Dancers are recruiting new members for the 2024 season. They practice Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at Fleetwood High School and are hoping to put squads together at ages from 2 years to adult for competitions and to appear at galas & parades. All abilities are very welcome to get involved.

There has been some sad news recently. Gail Martin will be well known to many of you as a friend, colleague and somebody who always looked out for those around her. She had a positive impact on many people's lives and helped to set up several groups that are now well-established in the community. Gail passed away last month and her funeral service is today. We extend our condolences and best wishes to Gail's family and will always remember her with great affection.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the Healthier Fleetwood Open Meeting yesterday evening. A summary of all the inspirational things we heard about will be sent as an extra bulletin over the weekend and our next meeting will be on Wednesday 6th September, 6.30pm at Emmanuel Mount Church - all VERY welcome!
