GOOD NEWS - 2nd October
We regularly update on all the Good News coming out of The Hub, the former Fleetwood Hospital building and as the next exciting phase of the development, applications are open to operate the venue's Community Cafe.
Fleetwood Trust are the owners of the building, their CEO Charley Wilkinson says,
"We are seeking a social enterprise or charity, whose values align to ours, who would be interested in operating the new facility. It would suit someone who is socially minded, with an entrepreneurial spirit and puts people and community at the heart of their decision making. Also, a creative programme of volunteering would be an advantage. From stakeholder discussions in 2019 and 2023 it was identified that the cafe should be an 'energetic and active place in the community' and the time has come for us to make that vision a reality and bring to life the beating heart of our Hub."
The cafe is located on the ground floor inside the Hub, is currently being renovated and will complete the ground floor, already occupied by a wide range of services and organisations including Regenda Homes, Fylde Coast Macmillan Information and Support Service, Blackpool and The Fylde College, Fleetwood Town Community Trust, Fleetwood Youth Hub, Counselling in the Community Charity and NHS Outpatients along with the ambulance service - all of whom bring a significant amount of daily footfall to The Hub.
The hours required for operation are 8am to 6pm, 6 days a week including Saturday.
> For more information on this opportunity and to submit an expression of interest please email charley.wilkinson@fleetwoodtrust.co.uk
... and Wyre Council has announced this week that Burtons Tea Rooms have leased the Mount Gate Lodge, now also open as a Community Cafe.
The venue will offer cake, hot and cold drinks with the vision to deliver a range of other exciting community projects. Employees will feel a part of the community and help develop their social skills as they connect with residents, developing hospitality, catering skills, and gaining valuable work experience.
The café will initially open Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 2.30pm.
