GOOD NEWS - 29th January
If you're looking for a fun way to stay active, meet new people and play some footie, Fleetwood Gym FC has started a new walking football session this week.
This is open to Men and Women aged 18+ and perfect for all fitness levels. Whether you’re a football fan looking for a slower-paced version of the sport or just fancy trying something new .., give it a go! No experience is needed, just bring your enthusiasm, some playing kit and a pair of comfortable trainers.
Sessions are every Tuesday, 7pm to 8pm on the 3G pitch at Fleetwood High School and it's completely FREE.
Walking and football come together in another way this weekend. Our best wishes to everyone undertaking the Armed Forces Veteran’s Walk For Wellbeing on Saturday.
Fleetwood Town Community Trust has joined with Morecambe FC Community Foundation to cover the 24 miles from Highbury Stadium to the Mazuma Mobile Stadium, arriving before the League Two game between the Cod Army and their near-neighbours. Funds raised will support wellbeing activities for veterans and their families.
... and the Heroes Rockin' Harmony: Fylde Coast Veterans Choir is open to anyone who has served in HM Armed Forces.
If you'd like the opportunity of joining other ex-service personnel to sing rock & pop songs, the choir will be recruiting in the Fleetwood and Cleveleys area soon. Rehearsals will be held on afternoons and evenings at local venues, there's no previous singing experience needed and training is provided. To find out more ...
Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care Board is currently developing a Male Suicide Prevention campaign for the region and invites residents to contribute.
The campaign will seek to influence men to access support and advice when they need it, in particular prompting them to take a look at the Stay Alive app.
The ICB is looking for males aged 40-54 living or working in the Lancashire and South Cumbria area who would be willing to give a few minutes of their time by completing an online survey. You will be able to view and give your opinion on the draft concepts and posters, and answer questions about what you feel would encourage men to seek support. The survey takes around 15 minutes and closes on February 3rd.
Taking better care of yourself can come in many forms and one Fleetwood business is offering something new ...
The Witches Hat has a range of products to support spiritual health and they have also recently opened a 'Healing Hub' at their Lord Street shop. They say ... "We have finally manifested our dream of providing a safe space for folks to find a few minutes in a stressful day, sit a while, have a coffee, and enjoy the tranquility."

Congratulations to Karen & Sparkly Margaret for their Joy Fest event on Sunday.
Around 500 visitors, sponsors, exhibitors and volunteers enjoyed the day of free activities, workshops, entertainment and food at Marine Hall. We had some great conversations at our table, chatting with local residents to share what's happening in the community to support their health and wellbeing. If you entered our draw for the art set, the winner was Steve Maughn and he picked up his prize on the day. Thank you to our own volunteers, Sam & Kath, for their help ... they loved the YMCA singalong and dance!
