GOOD NEWS - 27th July

It's the first week of the school holidays so this edition of Good News is focussed on things to do over the Summer.


Fleetwood Museum is hosting a series of FREE crafting sessions for children.


Activities include fishing boat mobiles, Japanese paper fish, sand clay shells, jar fish tanks and spider plant pots. This is for children aged 4 to 11 years, accompanied by an adult. Sessions are on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the holidays, either 11am to noon or 1pm to 2pm. Places are limited and must be booked in advance - call 01253 876621.



A reminder that Affinity Lancashire has FREE family fun for the Summer.


It's been lovely to see all the visitors enjoying themselves at the Outlet this week, especially riding along on the replica vintage bus. There's much more to come with shows, inflatables, mini-golf (we might have to try that), a Monster take-over and silent disco, costume characters, meet the hawks and owls.


Looking ahead Affinity Lancashire is also hosting another Artisan Street event on Bank Holiday Monday 28th August - with a range of local independent traders selling a whole host of artisan products including arts, crafts, foodie treats, gifts and more


Wyre's 'Great Outdoors' programme is packed with ways to get out and about.As well as all the regular events such as health walks, beach cleans, Wyre Wheels adapted bikes and trikes, conservation days there's also a FREE Great Eggcase Hunt, gardening demonstration, a Bat & Moth evening and seasonal crafts at Stannah Country Park.We have printed copies of the listing at the Healthier Fleetwood Information Centre at Affinity or you can see the full listing for August online here.


Free swimming for children with an FY7 postcode is available at YMCA Fleetwood throughout the school summer holidays and also includes Marine Splash!


The offer is for children aged under 17 and is supported by Fleetwood Town Council.


It's Fleetwood Town Community Trust's Fun Day this Saturday, 29th July.


There's a football tournament, inflatable dart board, bouncy castle, archery, hook a duck, face painting and games. Also, live music from Trident. Free entry with great value wristbands available for the children to enjoy the inflatables and activities.The event is at Fleetwood Rugby Club, Melbourne Avenue from 1pm to 9pm - for more information see Fleetwood Town Community Trust Facebook or call Phil on 07734 968937.


The Wyre Youth Summer Fest is for children and young people, aged 12-19.


Locally there's FREE events at the Milton Street muga on 1st August (with a special appearance by poet Nathan Parker) and Memorial Park, 8th August, both from 1pm - food, arts, inflatables and tug-of-war.

Make a Nature Book at Fleetwood Library on Tuesday 1st August.


Join Lisa & Tina from the Mount Art & Science Residency to learn about the project while printing, painting & collage to make traditional folded books. 10am to noon, it's a FREE drop-in session for all ages, with the materials provided.


The next 'Photowalk' for High Street Heritage Zone is also on Tuesday.


Join artist Claire to explore your creativity through photography on a walk starting from the Library at 11am and, weather permitting, including a trip on the Fleetwood to Knott End Ferry.


Saturday 19th August is another day to mark in your diary for local events.


Fleetwood Market is hosting a Summer Fun Day from 10am to 4pm - there's a Punch & Judy show, balloon art, crafts, fairground organ music and more to enjoy, and of course all the market stalls!


And also on the 19th is the rearranged RNLI Fleetwood Open Day ...


... meet the crew, watch the sail past and lifeboat display, enjoy the live music and entertainment, visit the stalls. You'll have a great time and support the life-saving work of this amazing volunteer service.

Autism Initiatives are back with us for their weekly pottery workshop on Tuesday 1st from 11am to 2pm.

The 'Just Reminiscing' collection returns on Friday 4th August, 11am to 1pm - pop in to browse and chat and it's our FREE Chatter Cafe on Friday.


And it's the Healthier Fleetwood Open Meeting on Wednesday 2nd August, starting at 6.30pm in Emmanuel Church, close to The Mount. Come along to share your news, get involved in community groups and events, suggest ideas for the future or just to listen. All welcome and refreshments are also available.
