GOOD NEWS - 11th May

As the Country celebrated the Coronation of HRH King Charles and HRH Queen Camilla, Fleetwood certainly played its part!

It was fantastic to see the crowds watching the ceremony on a big screen at Marine Hall Gardens, enjoying the live music in the glorious sunshine at Fleetwood Day and supporting the many other community events and street parties over the weekend.

Fleetwood residents and those working in the Town have also attended some of the Royal events ...The Rt Hon Lord Tom McNally, chair of the Fleetwood Trust, was one of the few Peers to be invited to the Coronation ceremony in person on Saturday. This week, on behalf of Healthier Fleetwood and the community, Karen Boylan and Pauline Kennedy attended a Buckingham Palace garden party for the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service 2022.

And other local residents are great ambassadors for Fleetwood!

You may know the wonderful Linda as a regular on the Fleetwood Town Community Trust 'walk & talk' event, and as a passionate volunteer supporting others to improve their health and wellbeing but she was not always the vibrant and confident person we see now. Linda's story is featured in new campaign to raise awareness of social prescribing and how it's making a difference to thousands of people thanks to the support of link workers like Wendy who works for Fleetwood Primary Care Network.

In the last week, Jane Couch MBE spoke to Granada TV about the challenges she faced when she started her boxing career and also since she retired. Jane now offers her encouragement to young, female boxers and is one of the founders of Fleetwood's 'Chill Lounge', the ladies' friendship and support group.

Some community events coming up this weekend ...
