AN UPDATE FROM BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
Behind Closed Doors is a volunteer-led group supporting individuals and families in and around Fleetwood, affected by domestic violence.
The group have summarised their recent work and plans for the future …
We held a ‘clothes shop’ for our group and opened it up to the community on Monday July 31st at Fleetwood Methodist Church. There was a good turnout and the feedback was great from those who attended, others asking if there will be another for those who couldn’t make it. As we still have a massive amount of clothes left, so we will be doing another shop in August at some point (no date yet) but it will be at the church again.
We do not require any more clothes donations but children’s new toys and tombola prizes are appreciated. A tombola at the Bowling club on Sunday 16th July raised over £300 towards our funds – thank you.
Behind Closed Doors has been nominated in to the top 4 finalists for the BBC radio Lancashire “Make a Difference Award”, in the community groups section. Members of the group will be attending the awards ceremony on the 9th September in Chorley.
Mandy from the group is doing a sky dive in October for domestic violence awareness month – follow our social media and also our Go Fund Me page here.
All funds raised are going towards opening our own safe, support hub within Fleetwood in the near future.
We would like to thank those who have already donated and kindly ask if you can also support by sharing our news.
