Advent Calendar ... Day 9

Most of the activities and events we are featuring in our Advent Calendar are brought together through a team effort but one or two individuals supporting the local community, deserve to be singled out.

So at the risk of embarrassing him, today we feature Rick Clement, Positive Pathways Project Co-ordinator for Veterans, working for Fleetwood Town Community Trust.

As an ex-serviceman himself he understands the challenges, for veterans and their families, and leads by example. Along with colleagues from the neighbouring professional football clubs, and working with other partner organisations, they present a monthly program of activities including social events, sports and training opportunities.

Tomorrow evening is the Fylde Coast Veterans Christmas Ball, even in these difficult times, a lovely opportunity for everyone to meet and enjoy each other's company.

Rick undertakes his role with such a positive, inspiring manner, appreciated by everyone that knows him. You can hear more about Rick's story in his own words as part of a video released for Remembrance Day - see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7y_OI7-tbKg

Healthier Fleetwood is a not-for-profit organisation supporting the physical and mental health of the Town's residents by connecting them to each other, services and voluntary groups in the community. As an individual's confidence grows they take more control of their own wellbeing and an active role in the decisions that affect them. We are independent of but work in close partnership with the many organisations supporting the community.
